St. Thomas, with some of the Caribbean's best beaches, is the area's major cruise port and king of duty-free shopping destinations. Some of the beaches you won't want to miss include Bluebeard's Beach, Coki Beach, Hull Bay, Magens Bay, Limetree Beach, Morningstar Beach, Vessup Bay and Sapphire Beach. Take in the view from the top of St. Peter Mountain or visit Drake's Seat with a panorama of 100 islands. The island also boasts an exciting underwater population at Coral World, the Atlantis Submarine, Paradise Point Tramway, Estate St. Peter Greathouse, and VI Kayak ECO Tours.

To see the island, 33 square miles in size, you can rent a car or take a guided tour. If you decide to rent a car remember driving is on the left, a custom which lingers from the days of Danish rule. One part of the trip takes you up circling and winding hills. Drake's Seat is where Sir Francis Drake used to sit and count his ships. Tour the St. Peter Greathouse and Botanical Gardens which features a contemporary estate house with local artist's works, also walk among more than 500 varieties of meticulously tended plants and trees. Watersports including sailing, windsurfing, and deepsea fishing are available for the adventurous types.
